Take a second, close your eyes, and try to picture what a “Cher-designed” house should look like. Think lot’s of feathers. Fish nets. Maybe four or five tons of silver glitter. And then maybe add a few more feathers.
That’s what a Cher house should look like.
A just-completed house proudly promoted as “Cher-designed” on the island of Hawaii looks nothing like that.

Sitting on .76 acres in the master-planned Four Seasons Hualalai, the 8,821-square-foot house, up for auction Jan. 18, is all mahogany doors, sliding glass, infinity pool and golf course views, displaying what a press release calls “a contemporary Balinese style” and “an elegant take on island living,” a reflection of Cher's “refined personality and taste.”
Because, when you think Cher you think “refined” and really elegant Balinese style, right? Apparently she prefers ass-less white-leopard pants on stage, but at home she’s all about the hardwoods. Who knew?

The six-bedroom house designed by the “award-winning singer, actor and cultural pop icon” includes five, free-standing bungalows; an “elegant water feature” and a “Zen-like courtyard” to “foster serenity,” according to the Web site for the auction. The house is offered fully-furnished, including art work, all presumably chosen by Cher herself.
Selling at auction should help determine exactly how much value the Cher name brings to real estate, in addition to providing an interesting barometer of the Hawaii luxury flip market. The house is expected to fetch between $8 million and $12 million, with or without an autographed picture from the designer, according to the auction service, Concierge Auctions.
Meanwhile, Cher is reportedly trying to sell her Malibu property, priced to move at $41 million.
